A brief extract from this issue...
Fruit Piercing Moth by Bob Taylor, photograph by Karen Shaw
The accompanying photograph was taken by Karen Shaw (Brush Turkey Enterprises) on a walk through the Reserve with a group of students from the River School. The larva was photographed on a Carronia vine.
It was identified by the Queensland Museum as the larva of the Fruit Piercing Moth Eudocima fullonia. The ‘eyes’ create a remarkable effect sufficient to deter any potential predator.
